How To Get Here
What public transport is available?
St Mary’s Cathedral is in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, only a short walk from several major train stations. The closest stations are St James Station (about a 3-minute walk), Museum Station (around 8 minutes), and Town Hall Station (about 12 minutes). Each station connects to Sydney Trains and nearby bus routes, making it easy to reach the cathedral by public transport.
I’m driving, where can I park?
While there is no parking at the cathedral itself, there are a number of secure, paid car parks within a 5- to 10-minute walk. Popular options include the Domain Car Park (St Mary’s Road), Wilson Parking on Macquarie Street, and the Hyde Park Car Park. Street parking in the surrounding CBD streets is limited and often metered, so we recommend allowing extra time to find a spot.
Is there accessible transport and parking?
For visitors with mobility needs, the closest accessible drop-off point is on College Street, near the main forecourt of the cathedral. Taxis and rideshare services can stop at this point. Several nearby parking stations, including the Domain Car Park, have designated accessible parking bays with lift access to street level.
Can I get here by bus, light rail, taxi or rideshare?
Many bus routes stop along Elizabeth Street or College Street, both just a short walk from the cathedral grounds. The L2 and L3 light-rail lines stop at Town Hall and QVB, from which it’s a pleasant walk through Hyde Park to the cathedral. Taxis and rideshare services can drop passengers at the forecourt entrance on College Street.
